Happiness has inherent value. As a rational person, I like maximizing that.
I also feel that happiness has scarcity value. It’s not always easy to come by. For me, for this purpose, some people/places/things are better than others. If you found a better lode of happiness elsewhere, wouldn’t you consider moving toward it?
